Mentors
Mentors are invited team members with the Mentor role. When a founder is approved, the platform automatically tries to match them with a mentor based on their industry. Mentors have a dedicated view showing only the founders assigned to them.
How mentor matching works
Section titled “How mentor matching works”When a reviewer approves a submission, the platform reads the industry field from that submission’s report and looks for an available mentor whose expertise includes a matching area. If a match is found, the assignment happens automatically.
If no matching mentor is available, the submission is still approved — it just won’t have a mentor assigned immediately. An admin can check the submission detail page to see whether an assignment was made.
Inviting a mentor
Section titled “Inviting a mentor”Mentors are invited the same way as other team members — go to Members, click Invite Member, enter their email, and select the Mentor role.
Once they accept the invitation and log in, they’ll be taken to their My Mentees view. Before they can be matched with founders, they need to complete their mentor profile.
Setting up a mentor profile
Section titled “Setting up a mentor profile”Every mentor should complete their profile before the cohort review begins. Mentors do this from their own dashboard after logging in.
Go to My Mentees → Edit Profile. Fill in:
Bio — A few sentences about your background, experience, and what you bring to founders. This is visible to your programme admins but is not currently shown to founders directly.
Areas of expertise — A list of domains you’re strong in (e.g. “fintech,” “b2b saas,” “hardware,” “social enterprise”). This is what the platform uses to match you with founders — be specific and cover your actual areas, not just your aspirations.
Seeing your mentees
Section titled “Seeing your mentees”Once you’re logged in as a mentor, your home screen is My Mentees — a list of all founders who have been assigned to you.
Each mentee card shows:
- The founder’s name and contact email
- A summary of their business idea
- Their application scores (clarity, fit, strength)
- Their full report, accessible by clicking into the card
For programme admins: checking mentor assignments
Section titled “For programme admins: checking mentor assignments”After approving a submission, you can see whether a mentor was assigned by opening the submission detail page and scrolling to the bottom. The assigned mentor’s name will appear there if the matching succeeded.
If no mentor was assigned automatically — either because no match was found or because you hadn’t invited any mentors yet — you can manually assign one once your mentors are in the system. (Manual assignment is coming — note this as a limitation if raising with your team.)
